1st Mistake…

George came to me wanting to complete this project motorcycle, he requested an anime/cartoon type look for his Slabside 1100cc GSXR, which originated in Italy in 1988, then imported to Romania, then imported to UK, and George named it “1st Mistake”.

I managed to complete this with a rapid turnaround, as it urgently needed to be done for a show he was attending. It just so happened, that with our work combined, the bike won 1st place in it’s show category, subsequently getting invited to another show in Gloucester Prison, and appearing in a magazine. It’s now usually referred to as the 2D bike.

George trusted me completely and refused photo updates, he let me go wild and it was a complete surprise for when he came to collect the bike back from me.

This was very fun to work on!

Here’s what George has done to 1st Mistake:

– Fuel tank and callipers cerakoted in matt black.

– Frame, swingarm and wheels powder coated in gloss white.

– Fully hidden electronics like CDI, fusebox, relays and battery under the tank.

– Integrated LED tail light and indicators in tail unit.

– Original 36mm Mikuni carbs jetted to stage 4 with lighter sliders and bigger jets to have linear and smooth acceleration with air filter pods.

– Engine recommissioned.

– Fully rebuilt wiring loom to adapt digital instrument panel and keyless system.

– Digital LCD instrument panel.

– PKE (proximity keyless) ignition with start button.

– LED headlight.

– Fat bar Metal Mulisha comic style.

– Much newer gsxr 1000 front end and wheels.

– One off fibre glass tail unit.

– Subframe shortened and rewelded in a much steeper angle.

– Cartoon style artwork by Jodex.

1st Mistake won the Best Streetfighter Award at Kickback Custom & Classic motorbike show in 2025.
